Frenulum Breve
The frenulum of the prepuce is an elastic band, and its main function is to fix the prepuce to the inferior part of the glans of the penis. If there is frenulum breve, simple erection may cause pain at the frenulum.
Sometimes, during vigorous sexual intercourse, the frenulum may break and bleed. Bacterial infection and scarring may happen after a tear of the frenulum. Scarring results in further shortening of the frenulum, and there may be repeated tearing after subsequent sexual intercourse.

Treatment
Frenuloplasty is a quick and simple surgical treatment for frenulum breve or frenulum tear. Most frenuloplasty procedures are done under local anesthesia in the clinic. A small number of frenuloplasty procedures will be done under general anesthesia in a hospital operating theatre.
Frenuloplasty under local anesthesia: First, local anesthetic cream is applied to the frenulum area for 15 minutes to numb the superficial skin. When the skin is numb, the local anesthetic injection needle will cause minimal pain during the injection of long-acting local anesthesia. Then, the frenulum is divided and extended by a bipolar cutter or scissors. The new frenulum is constructed with sutures. Frenuloplasty is a short surgery with minimal blood loss, minimal intraoperative pain, and minimal postoperative pain. Postoperative care is simple: all you need to do is keep the wound dry. You may need to clean the wound with antiseptic solution and change the dressing if necessary. This is a very safe surgery. The chance of recurrence and the complication rate are very low. You can return to school or office work immediately after frenuloplasty surgery. Water-soluble sutures will dissolve a few weeks later, so there is usually no need to remove the sutures.
Frenuloplasty can be done with circumcision at the same time.
